11th Annual Tourism and Hospitality Research in Ireland Conference (THRIC) 201527

The School of Tourism, Letterkenny Institute of Technology, hosted the 11th Annual Tourism and Hospitality Research in Ireland Conference (THRIC). The conference is run on an all-Ireland basis and provides an annual opportunity for the dissemination and presentation of research in the broad tourism sector including hospitality and culinary operations. This year’s conference featured over 35 research presentations and delegates were addressed by four keynote speakers from Ireland, Scotland, England and Spain.

THRIC began in 2005 with the mission of fostering research and scholarly activity in the broad field of tourism in Ireland. THRIC 2015 has maintained this important focus and was encouraged by the number and standard of research papers and abstracts submitted for the conference. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all those involved in making THRIC 2015 a reality, in particular our colleagues in the School of Tourism Killybegs and the LYIT Letterkenny campus, Fáilte Ireland, Donegal County Council, Donegal Local Enterprise Office and the tourism industry in the North West.

The theme for THRIC 2015 ‘Collaborative Sustainable Development - The Way Forward for Tourism’ was carefully chosen and the conference for us represented strong collaboration between our colleagues in industry and education institutions. This collection of THRIC 2015 Conference Papers reflect the theme of the conference and hopefully have made a contribution to increasing our knowledge, as academics and practitioners, of the world of tourism.
